ADVANTAGES
ECONOMY. Standard mail is great for larger mailings when delivery time is not critical or when you have the time to mail far enough in advance to get the mail to your audience "in time". Allow one to three weeks, depending upon how far away - and the season.

REGULAR RATES BASIC DISCOUNT AUTOMATION (3/5) LETTERS up to 6 1/8" x 11" .268 .248 .219 or less up to 3.3 oz. FLATS Larger than 6.125" .344 .288 .300 x 11.5" up to 12" x 15" up to 3.3 oz.
NON-PROFIT RATES BASIC DISCOUNT AUTOMATION (3/5) LETTERS .165 .153 .144 or less FLATS .230 .183 .189
ADDITIONAL NOTES ON BOTH RATES
Heavier pieces have a more complex rate structure. "Basic" rate is the maximum for that type of mail.
"Discount" is a set of rates which applies only to those pieces which qualify, generally based on density by ZIP code.
"Automation" rates apply for accurately coded lists and qualifying mailpieces which can be processed through automated equipment.
There are many other rates but these are typical.
When budgeting postage for this type of mail, figure on the BASIC rate -- further discounts are conditional on density and/or meeting automation requirements.
